Explosive-Filled Van Found As Philly Unrest Continues

Philly

Philadelphia is the latest city to be rocked by looters and self-proclaimed social justice warriors. Unfortunately, Philadelphia has set itself apart from the rest after police discovered an explosives-filled van. Local ABC 6 reported “BREAKING: Phila Police discover van loaded with explosives, suspicious equipment at Logan Circle in Center City.”

An investigation is underway after the explosives, propane tanks, torches and possible dynamite sticks from the van. Prior to the van with explosives were found, the city was already devastated from “at least 200 businesses, many of them already struggling in the midst of the pandemic, were the targets of massive looting across the city.”

According to the ABC 6 report, “an undetermined number of Pennsylvania National Guard troops will be soon arriving in the city.” Upon arrival, “their role first and foremost will be to safeguard property and prevent looting” said Mayor Jim Kenney. Violent unrest has resulted in the city of brotherly love after the death of Walter Wallace Jr.

In a virtual press conference on Wednesday, Philadelphia Police Commissioner Danielle Outlaw stated, “As I said yesterday, this investigation has many moving parts and we are working hard to ensure that a fair and thorough investigation takes place. We plan on releasing premise history audio of 911 calls and bodycam footage of the discharging officers in the near future.”

Twenty-three officers were injured after what started out as a peaceful protest of about 1000 people, turned violent against police. Police say bricks and even blood was thrown at them. “The police union called for the release of the police bodycam footage which they say will show that Walter Wallace Jr. failed to drop the knife as he was ordered repeatedly to do and instead, lunged at officers with it” reported ABC 6.

The numerous wounded police resulted in questions “as to why at least 2,000 officers, including those involved in the shooting, are not equipped or trained in the use of Tasers?” according to ABC 6. “It’s the issue of resources, we can try to find grants and other things from the government, but we have a lot of needs and less money that we have,” said Mayor Kenney.
