Black Lives Matter protesters made a scene as Republican National Convention attendees left the events of the RNC’s final night. Caught on video, BLM protesters confronted and heckled guests as they left the White House. They “were bombarded by protesters in the streets who booed them, shouting ‘You racist a**’ and ‘Jacob Blake” reported Daily Mail UK.
Guests kept walking “even as demonstrators gave them the middle finger and insulted them.” Kentucky senator Rand Paul and his wife were not so lucky to be able to walk through without incident. “Rand Paul and his wife were last night attacked by a large mob of Black Lives Matter protesters who shoved the police escorting him out of the RNC conference, knocking one of the officers into the senator” reported the Daily Mail.
At one point, the police escort used a bicycle to create a barrier between the protesters and the senator. Paul and his wife made it safely back to their hotel, after which Paul tweeted “just got attacked by an angry mob of over 100, one block away from the White House. Thank you to @DCPoliceDept for literally saving our lives from a crazed mob.”
While the event itself was in progress, protesters attempted to drown out the President’s speech by sounding off bullhorns, bells and chanting ‘No Justice, No Peace’ and ‘Black Lives Matter.’ “When Trump started his speech, dissidents set off firecrackers and amplified their chants in unison, all of which was audible from the South Lawn” according to the article.
Many videos released “showed multiple altercations. At least one showed protesters scuffling with police – throwing punches and pushing officers as they drew batons in response.” Another video showed activists physically stopping an RNC bus attempting to break-in in order to harass the passengers.
