So there has been one media figure after another in the so-called “mainstream media” spreading the flat out untruth that the riots in Portland and elsewhere are nothing more than “peaceful protests.”
At Tuesday’s hearing of the Democrat-run House Judiciary Committee, Chairman Jerrold Nadler -who called the idea the protests were violent a “myth” – was wielding the gavel. Nadler and his Democratic colleagues had been berating Attorney General William Barr when it came to yield time to Ohio’s Republican Congressman Jim Jordan. Jordan was ready.
Jordan played a video montage that runs just over 8 minutes. As seen here in this report by Fox News: The Fox story reports:
“Jordan then played a powerful video montage featuring a variety of mainstream media members referring to recent protests as “peaceful,” which included everyone from CNN’s Don Lemon to NBC News’ Chuck Todd dismissing violence amid images of burning buildings and attacks on law enforcement.
The video — which irked House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerrold Nadler, D-N.Y. — featured MSNBC host Ali Velshi famously declaring he was covering a ‘mostly a protest’ despite a building burning right behind him.
‘It is not, generally speaking, unruly,’ Velshi said.
Rachel Maddow, Chris Cuomo and Willie Geist also appeared in the Republican exhibit.
The words ‘peaceful protest’ were uttered by more than a dozen pundits before footage of the widow of retired St. Louis police Capt. David Dorn speaking about her husband’s tragic death began.
Dorn was murdered amid riots and looting on June 2 while working to protect a pawn shop. His widow spoke about the senseless death as additional footage of law enforcement officers being attacked by protesters played as part of Jordan’s video.
Barr looked on as the dramatic footage was played, portraying chaos in many of America’s major cities since George Floyd was killed in police custody in May.”
Indeed. And chaos is an understatement. What has been going on in Seattle and Portland and other American cities – all of them run by liberal Democrats for decades – is undiluted violence, as the Jordan montage video so vividly illustrated.
It is an astounding compilation, opening as it does with the now-infamous clip of MSNBC’s Ali Velshi in Minneapolis saying that he was covering “mostly a protest” – as, right behind him, a building burned furiously.
Let’s cut to the chase here. On a continuum you can start with the “Cancel Culture” that goes about the business of trying to silence Fox hosts like Sean Hannity, Tucker Carlson, Laura Ingraham, or some other figure in conservative media. Move further along and it’s this or that conservative speaker banned from a college campus or a conservative faculty member targeted for firing. Further along are the not-woke-enough journalists and editors of various newspapers including, incredibly, the leftwing New York Times or Philadelphia Inquirer.
And further along this continuum is what is seen in the Jordan video – flat out violence against both police and property. Or, as The Wall Street Journal noted in a recent editorial nothing less than “urban anarchy.”
Make no mistake. Totalitarianism has always been the underlying force of the Left in general and the American Left in particular. Violence is and has long been in the DNA of the Left.
What Jim Jordan’s video montage has vividly captured is just what that totalitarianism looks like – and how these “protestors” plan to run America should they ever get the chance.
With all those media figures not covering them – but covering for them.
