Report: Randy Andy Played Handsy With Female Staffer

Andrew Cuomo

Wow.  This keeps getting worse.

Here’s the headline in The Albany Times-Leader on Randy Andy…er…. New York Governor Andrew Cuomo.

Report: Cuomo groped female aide in governor’s residence

The story says:

“ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) — An aide to New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo says the Democrat groped her in the governor’s residence, marking the most serious allegation among those made by a series of women against the embattled governor, according to a report published in a newspaper Wednesday.

The woman, who was not identified, was alone with Cuomo late last year when he closed the door, reached under her shirt and fondled her. The newspaper’s reporting is based on an unidentified source with direct knowledge of the woman’s accusation. The governor had summoned her to the Executive Mansion in Albany, saying he needed help with his cellphone, the newspaper reported.”

Got that? One can only imagine what Randy Andy said when he was doing this. Something like:

“Hi. I think I dropped my cell-phone inside your blouse. Let me find it. This may take a while.”

This latest allegation from Woman Number 6 was the last straw for New York City’s Democratic Mayor Bill de Blasio. Said the Mayor:

“It’s deeply troubling. The specific allegation that the governor called an employee of his — someone who he had power over — called them to a private place and then sexually assaulted her, is absolutely unacceptable. It is disgusting to me.

It’s not one, it’s not two, it’s not three, it’s not four, it’s not five. It’s six women coming forward.

He can no longer serve as governor anymore. It’s as simple as that.”

De Blasio wasn’t alone either.  Here’s the headline in The New York Post:

More than 55 NY Democrats call on Andrew Cuomo to resign amid scandals

Reported The Post:

“More than 55 Democratic state legislators called Thursday for Gov. Andrew Cuomo to resign — and the Assembly speaker said he would hold a meeting later in the day “on potential paths forward.”

The statement from Cuomo’s fellow Democrats cited both the spiraling sexual harassment allegations against him and the cover-up of the total nursing home death toll and said that ‘he has lost the confidence of the public and the state legislature, rendering him ineffective in this time of most urgent need.’

We have a Lieutenant-Governor who can step in and lead for the remainder of the term, and this is what is best for New Yorkers in this critical time,” the statement added.

‘It is time for Governor Cuomo to resign.’”

The impact of the call from those 55 Democratic state legislators is ominous for Randy Andy. There are 150 members of the Assembly, the lower House. Democrats hold 96 of them, Republicans 54. If those 55 Democrats voted for a now-Republican impeachment resolution, that would mean there would be a 109 to 41 majority for the impeachment. More than enough to send to the Democrat-controlled State Senate where an impeachment trial would be held.

The key for Randy Andy to survive a trial is that it requires a two-thirds vote in the Senate to convict. There are 63 Senators, so it will take 42 to convict Cuomo. There are 36 Democrats in the Senate, with 27  Republicans. Cuomo may – or may not-  be able to survive. But obviously, as more and more prominent New York Democrats are demanding he resign, it takes no imagination to realize Andrew Cuomo could in fact be only the second governor in New York State history to be impeached. (The first was Democrat William Sulzer in 1913, removed for embezzling campaign funds for his personal use.)

Stay tuned.

But a short memo to future governors of New York? If you have a problem with your cell phone, don’t look for it in a woman’s blouse.
