Sixth Sexual Misconduct Allegation Against Cuomo Referred To Police

Andrew Cuomo

The latest of six sexual misconduct allegations against Democrat New York Governor Andrew Cuomo has been referred to the Albany Police Department and it may have risen “to the level of a crime.”

A spokesman for the police department said that the victim, who has remained anonymous, has not yet filed a formal complaint, but the department has reached out to a lawyer for her.

The allegation surrounds an incident at the Executive Mansion involving Cuomo and a female aide in which Cuomo allegedly “reached under her blouse” and “aggressively groped” her, according to the Times Union.

“As a matter of state policy, when allegations of physical contact are made, the agency informs the complainant that they should contact their local police department,” the governor’s acting counsel, Beth Garvey, said in a statement. “If they decline, the agency has an obligation to reach out themselves and inform the department of the allegation.”

“In this case, the person is represented by counsel and when counsel confirmed the client did not want to make a report, the state notified the police department and gave them the attorney’s information,” Ms. Garvey added.

Cuomo denied any wrongdoing on Wednesday, saying, “I have never done anything like this,” and the report was “gut-wrenching.”
