NYPD Disrespected In Cuomo vs De Blasio Spat

Cuomo De Blasio

Democratic New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio has demanded Democratic New York City Governor Andrew Cuomo apologize to the New York Police Department. On 1010 Wins talk radio yesterday, de Blasio said Cuomo “dishonored the men and women of the NYPD in an absolutely inappropriate way for any leader to do.”

Just what caused this Dem v. Dem verbal spat? Personal name-calling. Governor Cuomo called de Blasio’s handling of the NYC riots a “disgrace” and even puffed his chest saying he has the power to “displace” the mayor if necessary. It was after riots continued, causing devastation in NYC, during which “700 arrests were made overnight” and over “a half dozen police officers were injured, while at least six police vehicles were vandalized” the New York City Police Department told Fox News.

In discussing de Blasio’s handling of the situation, Cuomo said at a press conference Tuesday, “you have 38,000 NYPD people, it is the largest police department in the United States of America…use 38,000 people and protect property. Use the police, protect property, and people. Look at the videos, it was a disgrace.”

Cuomo appears to have been ‘passing the buck’ onto de Blasio after President Trump offered to send in the national guard for assistance. “Yesterday was a bad day for the Cuomo brothers. New York was lost to the looters, thugs, Radical Left, and all other forms of Lowlife & Scum. The Governor refuses to accept my offer of a dominating National Guard. NYC was ripped to pieces” tweeted Trump.

Cuomo relinquished himself of all responsibility and said, “the NYPD and the mayor did not do their job last night, I believe that.” De Blasio responded, “any elected official who blames the NYPD while they were out there fighting in the streets to restore order, protect people – that’s disgraceful.”

According to former New York City mayor Rudy Giuliani, the NYPD got caught in the middle of a longstanding feud between the two men. “The de Blasio-Cuomo problem is a special problem. They hate each other” Giuliani told Fox News’ Sean Hannity. “And frankly, de Blasio is completely incompetent. And the governor, really in good conscience, should replace him because he’s the sole reason why the New York City Police Department isn’t acting. And it really wasn’t fair of the governor who attacked the police department. He should have attacked de Blasio” Giuliani added.
