New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio is putting his foot down for the safety of the city’s citizens. Except it’s all nonsense. De Blasio canceled all large events and gatherings through September, which makes sense due to the horrific surge of COVID-19 leaving hospitals overwhelmed and reminiscent of a war zone. The only thing is, de Blasio did not cancel all gatherings.
The Mayor announced he will allow the continuation of Black Lives Matter protests in the city. “This is a historic moment of change. We have to respect that but also say to people the kinds of gatherings we’re used to, the parades, the fairs – we just can’t have that while we’re focusing on health right now,” de Blasio said on CNN Thursday night.
It is nothing short of insulting for de Blasio to say with a straight face that he is “focusing on health right now.” Allowing the BLM protests is the absolute opposite of health. Not only are hundreds of people in close quarters, but they are also yelling and chanting and, in many cases, using hand to hand combat against dissenters.
But wait, there’s more. Coronavirus is only one aspect; the BLM protests have led to extreme violence and are to blame for the rise in deaths and gun violence. On Wednesday a vigil was held “to honor victims of recent shootings amid a surge in gun violence across New York City, calling for a community response to the recent spike” reported New York’s local ABC news.
At the vigil, “101 pairs of shoes and a casket were laid out to represent the 101 shooting victims in 74 incidents that took place over the past week throughout the city” reported WABC. Here’s where the hypocrisy of de Blasio and Democratic leadership throughout the country becomes too enraging for words. While de Blasio allowed only Black Lives Matter protests to continue in order to show support for minorities and ‘All Black Lives’ they are the exact group of people who suffered the most by his actions.
“Nearly all of the victims were people of color” reported ABC. Since last Friday, police say there were roughly 50 shootings across all five boroughs. De Blasio, do yourself a favor and don’t insult the intelligence of the people of New York by saying your actions are focusing on “health.”
