“It’s an open secret,” said Omar Jamal. Representative Ilhan Omar (D-MN) “will do anything that she can do to get elected and she has hundreds of people on the streets doing that” claims Jamal. In speaking to Project Veritas, Jamal came forward to “expose a voter fraud scheme in Minnesota that will shock you” said PV founder James O’Keefe.
According to Project Veritas’ website, Jamal was “motivated to reach out to Project Veritas, because he wants to eliminate the corruption that weakens his community, such as the ballot harvesting practiced by Minnesota’s Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party, in which Ilhan Omar has emerged as a rising power broker.” Jamal is also an insider active in Minneapolis’ Somali community, works with the Ramsey County Sheriff Department and is the chairman of the Somali Watchdog Group.
O’Keefe and PV investigated the ballot harvesting scheme, and in the first of a series of reports released earlier this week, show political allies and associates of Omar are harvesting ballots ahead of the election. The video is a collection of Snapchat videos from a man named Liban Mohamed who says he was collecting ballots to help his brother win a special election race for a vacancy on August 11. August 11 was the same day as Rep. Omar’s primary for her MN-05 congressional seat.
“Numbers don’t lie. Numbers don’t lie. You can see my car is full. All these here are absentees’ ballots. Can’t you see? Look at these, my car is full. All these are for Jamal Osman…we got 300 today for Jamal Osman only” said Mohamed in his videos. The ballots harvested were for a vacant Ward 6 city council race, an area known to be “the heart of the city’s Somali community and Omar’s political base.”
Jamal interviewed Somali-Americans as part of his investigation. One explained they are a ballot harvester. “The harvester said Somali-American vote-buying operatives from the Omar machine came to his apartment building to oversee the voter filling out the paperwork. Omar operatives request the ballots and fill them out for the voters” writes PV.
“They come to us. They came to our homes. They said: ‘This year, you will vote for Ilhan,” he said. “They said: ‘we will make the absentee ballots. We will fill out the forms for you and when you get them back, we will again fill it out and send it” said the harvester, who added “when we sign the voting document and they fill it out is when they give us the money. The minute we signed the thing [ballot] for the election. That’s when we get paid.”
