In case you have missed being screamed at and told you are single-handedly responsible for literally ruining the earth by a teenager, have no fear, Greta Thunberg is back. She is back to tell you that by helping the economy, you are in turn, damaging the climate. So, pick your poison. Bluntly stated, Thunberg took to Twitter to say, “Today is black Friday. Overconsumption is wrecking present and future living conditions and the planet itself. Don’t buy stuff you don’t need.”
It’s doubtful that her definition of the word “need” is copacetic with the majority. But one thing we undoubtedly need, dear Greta, is an economy. Of all the years to demand people don’t “buy stuff you don’t need” perhaps show some class and even a shred of understanding of what is happening in the world and refrain from your statement during the very year we are in a devastating global pandemic.
Certainly, we can’t expect much more from a teen who started a global climate movement by starting a school strike. It was 2018 when the then 15-year-old Thunberg created #FridaysForFuture to encourage children around the world to go on a school strike…to help the climate? Now 17, she finds not helping the economy as helpful for the climate as skipping school.
Thunberg’s Fridays For Future account tweeted on Black Friday, “Reminder: overconsumption & overproduction is a leading cause of the climate crisis. To solve this crisis, it’s not about donating and being a philanthropist, it’s about governments acting upon the science with climate justice and putting people and planet over profit.” Huh? And this is the brilliant mind that Hollywood elites and liberals have chosen to be the star example of their party.
