Tulsi Gabbard, on her way out of the job, declassified a new batch of documents. They concern COVID-19—how the government handled it, and where the virus came from. She says the records speak for themselves.
According to her office, the communications show Dr. Anthony Fauci at the center of things. He helped direct federal money tied to the Wuhan Institute of Virology, the documents allegedly indicate, and he shaped intelligence assessments about the pandemic’s origins.
There is more. Gabbard’s office says intelligence officials repeatedly deferred to Fauci during the key debates over where the virus began. The evidence, she argues, points again to the same conclusion: the Wuhan laboratory was the most likely source.
She put it plainly in a statement. “The COVID-19 pandemic caused tremendous hardship and pain for millions of our fellow Americans and for countless people around the world,” she said. After the lies and the cover-ups, she added, Americans deserve the truth.
Then she sharpened the point. Fauci and others, she said, hid what mattered from the public while shielding themselves. “The tactics used to hide the truth are straight from the deep state playbook,” she said—politicized leaders covering up their own abuses, manipulating intelligence, lying to Congress, and keeping a duly elected President from the facts.
The documents are public now. The argument over them is not finished.
