On Thursday, White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre praised transgender individuals for being willing to “fight back” and be “fierce” a week after a transgender individual committed a targeted mass shooting at a Christian school in Nashville and a few days after a separate transgender individual was arrested for planned mass shootings at churches in Colorado.
Jean-Pierre’s comments came during her opening remarks as she doubled down on the Biden administration’s support of irreversible gender transition surgeries for children.
“With the enactment of a new law in Indiana, 14 states have now banned gender-affirming healthcare, while some of these laws are currently blocked by courts. This is a dangerous — a dangerous attack on the rights of parents to make the best healthcare decisions for their own kids,” Jean-Pierre said, referencing a new Indiana law that banned gender transition surgeries and other irreversible medical procedures in children.
“Look, this is awful news. Let’s be very clear about that. LGBTQI+ kids are resilient. They are fierce. They fight back. They’re not going anywhere. And we have their back. This administration has their back,” she added.
That same day, news broke that a 19-year-old man who identifies as a transgender woman had been arrested after a police investigation found that he was planning mass shootings at schools and churches in Colorado.
That arrest came just days after a separate transgender individual, a 28-year-old woman who believed she was a man, attacked a private Christian school in Nashville. She killed six people, including three children, before being shot and killed by police.
Investigators say that the tragedy was a “targeted attack” and that the shooter was a former student of the private Christian school. Additionally, the attack took place just days before a planned “Day of Vengeance” by transgender activists in Washington, D.C., for March 31-April 2 which had been raising money for firearm training for people who identify as trans.
