The Post’s Erik Wemple Goes Full David Duke

Erik Wemple

The thing about the race card is that the Left doesn’t know what to do without it.

Case in point? This time it is…shocker…The Washington Post’s Erik Wemple.

Fresh off a headline in The Post that was, but of course, a flat out lie, Wemple uses his race card this time to go after Fox’s Tucker Carlson.

The Wall Street Journal’s Holman Jenkins said this of The Post’s lie that was headlined this way:

Trump’s push to amplify racism unnerves Republicans who have long enabled him

Wrote Jenkins:

“Every American, regardless of how he or she feels about Donald Trump, should read his July 3 speech at Mount Rushmore and then the Washington Post account of the speech by Robert Costa and Philip Rucker. The Post account begins: “President Trump’s unyielding push to preserve Confederate symbols and the legacy of white domination, crystallized by his harsh denunciation of the racial justice movement Friday night at Mount Rushmore . . .

Except that Mr. Trump made no reference to the Confederacy or any of its symbols. His only reference to the Civil War was to Abraham Lincoln and the abolition of slavery as a fulfillment of the American Revolution.”

Exactly.

Tucker Carlson’s “sin” was that he had the nerve – the nerve! – to go after two members of Congress, Sen. Tammy Duckworth (D-Ill.) and Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.). Say again, Duckworth is a sitting United States Senator, equal to the other 99. Omar is a United States Representative, equal to her 434 House colleagues.

I could go on but even the Internet doesn’t have the space to list all the race card players that have made the Democratic Party and the American Left.

But to Wemple? Following in the race-baiting spirit of that Post story, Here is Wemple’s description of the two:

“Both politicians featured in Carlson’s beatdown are women of color — Duckworth, who is Thai American, and Omar, who was born in Somalia.”

Got that? Duckworth and Omar are not a Senator and Congresswoman. No, no. Over there in Race Land, Wemple presents them by their race. Which, of course, is exactly what the Left always does. Erik Wemple? Meet David Duke. Or George Wallace. Or Bull Connor. Or…well, I could go on but even the Internet doesn’t have the space to list all the race card players that have made the Democratic Party and the American Left.

It is no accident that Duckworth herself is quick to play the race card. Said the Senator in an appearance on CNN, bold print supplied:

“What really struck me about this speech that the president gave at Mount Rushmore was that he spent more time worried about honoring dead Confederates than he did talking about the lives of our American — 130,000 Americans who lost their lives to COVID-19, or by warning Russia off of the bounty they’re putting on Americans’ heads.”

As The Wall Street Journal’s Jenkins also noted of Senator Duckworth:

“Sen. Tammy Duckworth, as many commentators on the right noted, also lied when she said Mr. Trump ‘spent all his time talking about dead traitors.’ He mentioned not a single leader or champion of the Confederacy.”

Indeed the President did not. And note: the conservative Mr. Jenkins refers to Duckworth by her official title. There is zero reference to her race.

The hard fact here is that the American Left – and specifically the Democratic Party – is the Party of Race. This is the party that formally and repeatedly supported slavery, lost the battle to abolish slavery, and then moved on to create and support the racist policies of Jim Crow and segregation. Now, they are into identity politics, the son of segregation and Jim Crow.

And there is Erik Wemple, like clockwork, playing the race card by making plain that he doesn’t see Duckworth and Omar as a Senator and Representative but rather he sees them by their skin color – by their race.

Which is to say, Wemple, as with The Post itself, is intent on playing the race card.

Why? Because that’s who and what the American Left is – and has always been.

Or put another way in this case? Erik Wemple is no different than David Duke.

Why would he be?
