Horror and Heroism at the Water’s Edge: An Antisemitic Attack at Bondi Beach

At least 15 people are dead, and 27 remain hospitalized after a shooting at Sydney’s Bondi Beach, an attack declared a terrorist incident and described as deliberately targeting Jewish Australians. It’s the country’s worst mass shooting in nearly 30 years. The victims ranged in age from 10 to 87. Among them: a Holocaust survivor and two rabbis. A bystander who wrestled a gun from one attacker — later described as “heroic” — survived and is now recovering in a hospital bed. The suspects were a father and son.
