They can’t help themselves. Democratic presidential candidates Mayor Pete Buttigieg and Senator Elizabeth Warren just did what Democrats always do - and in fact have been doing for the 220-year history of their party.
According to a New York Times report, Michael Bloomberg increased his personal donations to various causes to the tune of $3.3 billion in 2019.
What Mayor Pete and his campaign should do is apologize and stop lying. When you twist the truth about small, inconsequential things, voters are less likely to believe a candidate when they talk about hard policy issues.
Who knows, maybe after Bloomberg is asked about this unpopular policy, he will once again apologize and state that the policy does not represent the “way that [he] thinks” now that he is running for president.
