A Capitol police officer was killed on Friday after a suspect rammed into them with their car, then proceeded to charge at officers while wielding a knife before being fatally shot by Capitol police. “It is with profound sadness that I share the news of the passing of Officer William ‘Billy’ Evans this afternoon from injuries he sustained following an attack at the North Barricade by a lone assailant,” Acting Capitol Police Department Chief Yogananda Pittman said in a statement. “Officer Evans had been a member of the United States Capitol Police for 18 years.  He began his USCP service

Because I think the last thing the economy needs right now is a big, whopping tax increase,” McConnell said, according to Politico. “You’re either alarmed about the level of national debt and the future impact of that on our children

During an event celebrating labor union leader Cesar Chavez, First Lady Jill Biden attempted to speak Spanish, failing on the first word that was more than one syllable. The moment was mocked on social media, with people criticizing Biden for pandering and not really coming close to correct pronunciation of basic Spanish. “It’s ‘Si se puede’ (Yes you/we can) not ‘Si se pwadueh,’” RGA Deputy Communications Director Joanna Rodriguez, who is fluent in Spanish, tweeted. “I can’t even imagine what word she was trying to say. Seriously why even try pandering if you’re going to butcher it and not practice
