On Thursday, the White House announced that the United States will accept up to 100,000 Ukrainians fleeing from the Russian of their country. “While we expect many Ukrainians will choose to remain in Europe close to family and their homes in Ukraine, today, the United States is announcing plans to welcome up to 100,000 Ukrainians and others fleeing Russia’s aggression through the full range of legal pathways, including the U.S. Refugee Admissions Program,” the White House said in a statement. “In particular, we are working to expand and develop new programs with a focus on welcoming Ukrainians who have family

United States Formally Accuses Russia Of War Crimes During Ukraine Invasion

On Wednesday, Secretary of State Antony Blinken formally announced that the United States government believes Russia committed war crimes during its invasion of Ukraine and should be prosecuted. “Since launching his unprovoked and unjust war of choice, Russian President Vladimir Putin has unleashed unrelenting violence that has caused death and destruction across Ukraine,” Blinken said in a statement. “We’ve seen numerous credible reports of indiscriminate attacks and attacks deliberately targeting civilians, as well as other atrocities.  Russia’s forces have destroyed apartment buildings, schools, hospitals, critical infrastructure, civilian vehicles, shopping centers, and ambulances, leaving thousands of innocent civilians killed or wounded.”

NATO Leaders Expected To Approve ‘Major Increases’ Of Forces In Eastern Europe

NATO leaders are preparing to approve “major increases” in the number of forces positioned in Eastern European countries, deploying four new battle groups to Bulgaria, Hungary, Romania and Slovakia, according to NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg. “I expect leaders will agree to strengthen NATO’s posture in all domains, with major increases in the eastern part of the alliance on land, in the air and at sea,” Stoltenberg said during a press conference on Wednesday. Stoltenberg added that he expects NATO allies to “agree to provide additional support including cybersecurity assistance, as well as equipment to help Ukraine protect against chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear threats.”

DeSantis Signs Proclamation Declaring Female Swimmer ‘Best Women’s Swimmer’ After Loss To Trans Athlete

On Tuesday, Florida Republican Governor Ron DeSantis signed a proclamation declaring that Sarasota native and Olympic silver medalist Emma Weyant was “the best women’s swimmer in the 500y freestyle” in last week’s NCAA championship.
