On Friday, the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade, the case that legalized abortion across the country. The 6-3 decision followed a leak of a draft opinion in early May that showed how the justices would likely rule. The leak sparked protests across the country and numerous attacks on pro-life organizations. The leak was also largely the reasoning behind an alleged assassination attempt on Justice Kavanaugh in early June. The decision came in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, a challenge to a Mississippi law that bans abortions after the 15th week of pregnancy except for in cases of medical emergencies

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis slammed his former political rival Andrew Gillum on Thursday, saying the recently indicted politician was “propped up” by the media during Florida’s 2018 gubernatorial election despite having “issues under the hood.” Gillum and an associate were indicted on 21-counts by a federal grand jury on Wednesday alleging that between 2016 and 2019 they “conspired to commit wire fraud, by unlawfully soliciting and obtaining funds from various entities and individuals through false and fraudulent promises and representations that the funds would be used for a legitimate purpose,” the Department of Justice said in a press release. As gas prices remain near record highs, President Biden’s National Climate Task Force had its 12th meeting.
