Smith’s resignation is no surprise, as Trump was ready to fire him immediately after taking office. On Friday morning, New York Judge Juan Merchan sentenced President-elect Donald Trump to an “unconditional discharge” — Trump won’t face jail time, fines, or probation. According to multiple reports, the Supreme Court will not stop Judge Merchan from sentencing President-elect Donald Trump in his Manhattan “hush money” case.
