Kentucky Detective Chase McKeown and his recent bride Officer Nicole McKeown had one heck of a date night last weekend. The couple, who work for the police department in Elizabethtown outside of Louisville, Kentucky, and have only been married for six months make sure to have a date night once a week as suggested by their church. Enjoying their favorite fried chicken restaurant in Louisville, a masked man walked to the cashier, held up a gun and demanded money.

In an incredible video caught on the restaurant’s surveillance camera, the officers can be seen chasing the man out of the dining establishment. According to the couple, while they were eating around 10 pm a man entered wearing a mask. An immediate thought was that he might be sick or worried about getting the flu; until the cashier raised her arms.

“I saw her hands go up like this and I’m like, ‘is he doing what I think he’s doing?” Nicole said describing the incident at a news conference. Her husband responded “yeah” and the two quickly jumped to act. Chase said, “We just looked at each other…Let’s go” saying their police instincts took over and they just did “what we felt like we had to do.”

When the cop couple shouted for the man to drop his gun, he dropped the gun on the mat of the restaurant floor as he ran out. The off-duty couple then chased him down the block and were able to apprehend the man where they held him until the Louisville Metro Police Department joined them.
