At least 96,000 “known gotaways,” migrants who were detected illegally crossing the border but were not caught, have crossed the southern border since October 1, when the current fiscal year started, sources from Customs and Border Protection (CBP) told Fox News.

The figure means that more than 800 migrants were able to illegally cross the border without getting caught every and are presumably living somewhere in the United States.

Since President Biden entered office, an illegal immigration crisis has developed with illegal immigration at the southern border more than tripling during his first year in office – when a record 1,734,686 border patrol encounters of migrants attempting to illegally cross the southern border in fiscal year 2021. The crisis has continued to worsen with that record being broken again in 2022, with 2,378,944 encounters, and again in 2023, with 2,475,669 encounters.

Fiscal year 2024 is already on track to break last year’s record with reportedly around 302,000 encounters in December – the highest monthly total ever.
