Joe Biden ‘Fine In His Basement’ Says Prominent Democrat

Clips from a zoom videoconference meeting of political leaders in Virginia were not very flattering for Biden. One prominent member said former vice president Biden is “fine in his basement. Two people see him a day: his two body people. That’s it. Let Trump keep doing what Trump’s doing.”

Here’s the kicker; these were not Republicans talking. The words were said on the call by one of Biden’s top surrogates, Terry McAuliffe. McAuliffe was speaking to the Norfolk City Democratic Committee at their “monthly breakfast.” McAuliffe is a well-known Democrat who served as the campaign chairman for Hillary Clinton’s 2016 presidential run.

In the videoconference clip, obtained by Fox News, McAuliffe says “people say all the time, ‘Oh, we got to get the vice president out of the basement.’ He’s fine in the basement. Two people see him a day: his two body people. That’s it. Let Trump keep doing what Trump’s doing.” One of the female African American members can be seen vigorously shaking her head during McAuliffe’s comments.

Clearly Biden supporters, senior Norfolk Democrat Charlie Stanton compared the soldiers of the D-Day landing to today’s Antifa members when he introduced McAuliffe to the group. As McAuliffe spoke of their strategy for Biden to win, particularly in light of his most recent gaffes. “It’s hard for the vice president to breakthrough. You’ve got the COVID crisis. He’s not a governor, doesn’t have the National Guard. He’s not the president, doesn’t have the briefing room” said McAuliffe.

“He needs to come out strategically. And when he says something like he did on race relations two days ago, it needs to have a big impact – thoughtful, and that’s what we’re preferring that he actually do at the time” added McAuliffe. With confidence, he added Democrats are “not gonna have crazy Jim Comey coming out 12 days before the election with that ridiculous thing he did” during Clinton’s 2016 run.

McAuliffe did note that Biden’s digital presence falls short of Trump’s. “We’re building the digital today, which Trump has a huge lead on, he’s got like 88 million Twitter followers, so that’s a big emphasis for us.”
