Tom Homan didn’t say much on “The Sunday Briefing.” What he did say was enough.
Asked point-blank about Ilhan Omar, the White House border czar confirmed there’s an active criminal investigation. He wouldn’t say what evidence they have, or don’t. But he wasn’t backing away from it, either.
“I know things are going on, but I can’t give specifics of what’s happening,” he said — then added, for good measure, that congressman or not, “no one’s above the law.”
Pushed again on whether he was confirming a probe into Omar specifically, Homan didn’t dodge.
“I’m confirming that ICE is, yeah,” he said. “I said months ago that there’s something that’s been reported and needs to be looked at.”
The allegation itself isn’t new.
Critics have accused Omar for years of marrying a man they say is her brother, as part of an immigration scheme — a claim she’s flatly denied, most recently dismissing it in December as “bigoted lies” and accusing Trump of being obsessed with her.
Nothing has been proven in public records. But the people saying it out loud keep climbing the ranks.
DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin didn’t hedge at all, saying recently, “We know that she married her brother to try to bring him to the United States. We know he now lives in London.”
He floated something bigger, too — the whole family’s path to the U.S. “If we can prove it, that you shouldn’t have been here in the first place, we will deport you,” he said.
That’s on top of Vice President JD Vance, who said back in May that the Justice Department was already looking at whether Omar committed immigration fraud, and who told a podcast host in March that “we think Ilhan Omar definitely committed immigration fraud against the United States of America.”
Homan, for his part, kept it narrower. He described denaturalization as a serious, well-worn process — something DHS has used “many times over the last 40 years,” he said — and made clear that’s the road this could go down, if the fraud is ever proven.
