Why does ABC News correspondent Kyra Phillips have an obsession with race? Why does MSNBC’s Donny Deutsch?
Phillips, referring to the selection of Senator Kamala Harris as Biden’s VP candidate, asked President Trump, at his latest press conference, this:
“Well let me ask you this then, do you have an issue with a strong woman of color being in this presidential race?”
(The President replied, of course, with what for most Americans, is plain common sense: “None whatsoever. As you know.”)
MSNBC’s Deutsch, a serious sufferer of Trump Derangement Syndrome, said this on Morning Joe:
“How do one in three Americans still believe this man about corona or anything? The answer is only one thing: One in three Americans are racists. One in three Americans are terrified that this country, by the year 2040, is not going to be majority white. That the black man or brown man or the yellow man or woman are going to come and take their jobs and take away their suburbs and scare them.”
Phillips and Deutsch were far from alone in the media. The plain fact here is that if one criticizes Harris – or before her President Obama – it had to be because of race. Not because of their ideology or beliefs or actions – but because of race.
Liberals, it should be clear, are categorically obsessed with race. It matters not whether they are in the media or not. The question is: why?
There is an answer. Liberals – Democrats – come out of a political culture of racism. The Democratic Party, to remind, was founded by slave owners. The entire party was built around race. It is not for nothing that the first five platforms representing the Democratic Party’s positions on the issues of the day said this:
“Resolved, That Congress has no power, under the constitution, to interfere with or control the domestic institutions of the several states, and that such states are the sole and proper judges of everything appertaining to their own affairs, not prohibited by the constitution; that all efforts by abolitionists or others, made to induce Congress to interfere with questions of slavery, or to take incipient steps in relation thereto, are calculated to lead to the most alarming and dangerous consequences, and that all such efforts have an inevitable tendency to diminish the happiness of the people, and endanger the stability and permanency of the union, and ought not to be countenanced by any friend to our political institutions.”
Got that? There.. in print…is the party’s official position declaring that, yes indeed, they supported slavery. This appeared in five platforms – 1840, 1844, 1848, 1852 and 1856. With this as their stated position, the party elected three presidents who enforced this support with the authority of the United States government.
And when this failed, in that small skirmish known as the Civil War, they opposed the 13th, 14th and 15th amendments to the Constitution. The amendments successively abolished slavery, gave African Americans due process rights and the right to vote. When Republicans enacted civil rights legislation in the late 1860’s and early 1870’s, Democrats opposed all of them – and began passing Jim Crow laws that segregated the states of the Confederacy. Not to mention that, as historians record, the party began using the Ku Klux Klan as their military or terrorist arm.
All of this bred in the party a culture of race, in which everyone in America is reflectively judged by skin color.
In today’s world, as those comments from Phillips make clear, Harris is not a United States Senator and an equal of her senatorial peers, she is a “strong woman of color.”
As Deutsch makes clear, if Americans disagree with Harris, then they do so because:
“One in three Americans are racists. One in three Americans are terrified that this country, by the year 2040, is not going to be majority white. That the black man or brown man or the yellow man or woman are going to come and take their jobs and take away their suburbs and scare them.”
And God forbid if you are black, Hispanic or a woman – and you are conservative. All those “tolerant” liberals will come at you in a nano-second.
If you haven’t read it, take a read of Blacklash: How Obama and the Left Are Driving Americans to the Government Plantation by my friend Deneen Borelli and published in 2012. Deneen is an African American woman – and a staunch conservative.
Deneen opens her book by listing some of the absolutely abominable and thoroughly racist things that have been said about her by, yes indeed, liberals. In fact, it could easily be said that the Left has a real problem with a “strong woman of color” who is a conservative. If Deneen were a US Senator at this moment and Donald Trump put her on his ticket as vice president, she would be attacked and assailed with a seriously vicious and ferocious racism – by the Left.
Heck, one doesn’t even have to be a black woman to attract treatment like this. In 2008 a white woman, Alaska Governor Sarah Palin was in fact put on the GOP ticket as the vice-presidential nominee with Senator John McCain.
As Tim Graham has written over at NewsBusters, the feminists of the press could not abide a conservative woman as a serious national candidate. Tim writes:
“Newsweek’s Eleanor Clift – who long touted the idea of electing a Madame President – spoke for thousands of American journalists. ‘If the media reaction is anything, it’s been literally laughter in many places…In very, very many newsrooms.’”
She was attacked, Tim notes, for being a “crummy mother” and an idiot. Tim writes:
“New York Times columnist David Carr echoed Clift in underlining the media’s sexist contempt: ‘Before Gov. Sarah Palin came flying in from the wilds of Alaska for the Republican convention in St. Paul, there was a lot of sniggering in media rooms and satellite trucks about her beauty queen looks and rustic hobbies, and the suggestion that she was better suited to be a calendar model for a local auto body shop than a holder of the second-highest office in the land.”
So. As the rest of this campaign unfolds, know this.
The Democrats and their media allies will be playing the race card – because that’s what they do.
