Florida has been among the states experiencing a huge spike in coronavirus cases. Apparently, there is a certain group of “unsavory” people who are refusing the lockdown and taking the opportunity to taunt the public with parties ranging from 50 to 100 people. The parties are attracting gang members from “all parts of Central Florida” reported the New York Post.
According to Osceola County Sheriff Russ Gibson, and reported by the New York Post, these “unsavory” people have rented “vacation homes in gated communities and holding huge COVID-19 parties in hopes of spreading the disease.” Reportedly, “the parties often spill over into the residential streets and over 600 complaints have been made.” Residents of the gated communities are “living a life of terror right now” added Gibson.
Sheriff Gibson said, “there are some gangs that are renting these houses and they’re coming here to Osceola County. And this is something that we have to protect our residents with.” One man was killed at a party in April. Just last week, party members shot fireworks at law enforcement. Sheriff Gibson noted the deputies had to back down, waited for extra resources, and then went in and dispersed the party where a gun was recovered.

Osceola County Sherriff’s Office posted a video on their Facebook page an example of the rowdy parties occurring in the middle of the neighborhood streets, clearly not confined into a home. The caption reads, “Don’t fall for unsafe activities. Do the right thing. #besafe.”
Gibson added, “these are real situations, very dangerous situations, and our residents are afraid, you know, and we don’t want that.” He continued, we don’t want to feel like, other than dispersing this, that we’re powerless and they just continue to happen. Osceola County can’t be listed as party central or COVID-19 party central.”
