On Tuesday, Twitter CEO Elon Musk responded to the leftist idea that he was giving special treatment to right-wing journalists and pundits on the platform, saying, “there is not one permanent ban on even the most far-left account spouting utter lies.”
“Imagine if Elon Musk were actually the right-wing bogeyman these spoiled lefty journos pretend he is and he decided to turn the tables and ban all left-wing ‘fake news’ from Twitter,” Kyle Becker wrote. “There’d be nothing left for them to publish!”
“As is obvious to all but the media, there is not one permanent ban on even the most far left account spouting utter lies,” Musk replied. “Not even Associated Press with their completely fictional report on Russian missiles hitting Poland that carried severe consequences for escalating the war.”

Musk referenced a recently retracted story from former Associated Press journalist James Laporta that said Russian missiles struck Przewodów, Poland, and killed two civilians.
The story, which relied on a single anonymous source, turned out to be false, and Laporta was subsequently fired. The Associated Press eventually issued a correction.
“In earlier versions of a story published November 15, 2022, The Associated Press reported erroneously, based on information from a senior American intelligence official who spoke on condition of anonymity, that Russian missiles had crossed into Poland and killed two people,” the correction read. “Subsequent reporting showed that the missiles were Russian-made and most likely fired by Ukraine in defense against a Russian attack.”
