President Donald Trump hit TRUTH Social Thursday morning to elaborate on his vision for a solution in Gaza — and stressed that no U.S. troops would be involved.
Trump posted the following on TRUTH:
The Gaza Strip would be turned over to the United States by Israel at the conclusion of fighting. The Palestinians, people like Chuck Schumer, would have already been resettled in far safer and more beautiful communities, with new and modern homes, in the region. They would actually have a chance to be happy, safe, and free. The U.S., working with great development teams from all over the World, would slowly and carefully begin the construction of what would become one of the greatest and most spectacular developments of its kind on Earth. No soldiers by the U.S. would be needed! Stability for the region would reign!!!
Trump’s post follows comments he made this week during a joint press conference with Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu at which he called for “all” Gaza Strip residents to leave the war-shattered territory.
The US will take over the Gaza Strip, and we will do a job with it too,” Trump said.
“We’ll own it and be responsible for dismantling all of the dangerous unexploded bombs and other weapons on the site, level the site, and get rid of the destroyed buildings — level it out and create an economic development that will supply unlimited numbers of jobs and housing for the people of the area.”
Netanyahu expressed interest in Trump’s plan, calling it the “first good idea” he’s heard during an interview with Fox News’ Sean Hannity.
“The actual idea of allowing first Gazans who want to leave to leave. I mean, what’s wrong with that?” Netanyahu told Hannity. “They can leave, and they can then come back, they can relocate and come back. But you have to rebuild Gaza. If you want to rebuild Gaza you can’t have … this is the first good idea that I’ve heard. It’s a remarkable idea.
“And I think it should be really pursued and examined, pursued and done. I think it will create a different future for everyone,” Netanyahu added.
