On Thursday, the Supreme Court ruled 6-3 that the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) does not have the power to regulate carbon dioxide emissions from power plants because it had not been granted that power by Congress. Democrats responded to the ruling by claiming the world was ending and calling for an end to the Supreme Court.

Democrat Rep. Rashida Tlaib (MI) called the Supreme Court “fascist” for the ruling that the democratically elected members of Congress must pass a law allowing an unelected government agency, the EPA, to regulate carbon emissions.

“Fascist SCOTUS guts the EPA’s ability to regulate carbon emissions, fight climate change. The federal government will be restricted from regulating anything of significance in the absence of a clear Congressional directive to do so,” Tlaib wrote on Twitter.

According to Democrat Sen. Elizabeth Warren (OK), Earth is currently “on fire” and the ruling has stopped the United States’ ability to “fight back.”

“Our planet is on fire, and this extremist Supreme Court has destroyed the federal government’s ability to fight back. This radical Supreme Court is increasingly facing a legitimacy crisis, and we can’t let them have the last word,” Warren wrote on Twitter.

Democrat Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (NY) called for the Supreme Court to be removed entirely over the ruling.

“Catastrophic. A filibuster carveout is not enough. We need to reform or do away with the whole thing, for the sake of the planet,” Ocasio-Cortez wrote on Twitter.
