From the Oval Office on Friday, President Trump pledged to press ahead with his effort to “clean up” America’s most dangerous cities.
“After D.C. comes Chicago,” he said. “And then we’ll help with New York.”
Trump insisted the job would not be difficult. “The people in Chicago are screaming for us to come. I did great with the Black vote, and they want something to happen,” he said. “A lot of these people you see on television — they’ll say bad things about me, and then they’ll say, ‘thank God he’s here.’ Because half of them got mugged and they don’t want to get mugged again.”
Pointing to the capital, Trump added: “The people right here are all happy, because you’re not going to get mugged in Washington anymore.”
Attorney General Pam Bondi followed with updated statistics from the D.C. crackdown: “719 arrests and 91 illegal guns seized. Just yesterday, we made 40 arrests, took five more illegal firearms off our streets, and had 36 ICE arrests — including a suspected MS-13 gang member.”
