Ed Mullins, President of New York Sergeants Benevolent Association spoke to Fox News’ Laura Ingraham last night to plead on behalf of New York law enforcement. “NYPD is losing the city of New York and we have no leadership in the city of New York right now, from City Hall to the brass of the NYPD.” Describing what officers have to endure, “the men and women are being pelted with rocks, bricks, cars [are] lit on fire. And this is continuous” said Mullins.
Despite NYC Mayor Bill de Blasio implementing an 8 pm curfew on Tuesday to be in place through the end of the week, Mullins said the rioters were out on the streets of New York well into the night. Governor Cuomo insulted the NYPD claiming they did not do their job, but Mullins insists the NYPD is “more than capable” of handling the situation but “our hands are tied” said Mullins.
“The rank and file members of all ranks have sent me numerous emails, letters, text messages, photos of New York City…being destroyed. We have no leadership coming from City Hall. We are being told to stand down.” Without appropriate leadership guiding and giving the approval to take action, Mullins has called upon President Trump.
“President Trump is watching it. I am asking the president to please, please immediately send federal personnel to New York City and monitor what is going on” pleaded Mullins. “If Governor Cuomo does not implement the National Guard immediately, then the federal government is going to have to step in.”
Pettiness is literally destroying New York City. Governor Cuomo has thus far refused help from President Trump and has threatened to remove mayor de Blasio if necessary. Mayor de Blasio demanded an apology from Cuomo to the NYPD. However, Mullins says it is mayor de Blasio himself who “is not allowing the NYPD to do their job. The commissioner, the chiefs of the NYPD are too afraid to let the men and women keep control of the city.” Mullins added, “history has shown that you must enforce the laws” but instead the leadership of New York is too busy focused on pointing fingers at one another instead of protecting its citizens.
