No, Donald Trump did not call for the execution of Liz Cheney…
Media outlets exploded on Friday after a clip went viral of former President Donald Trump discussing Washington war hawks and how easily they send America’s young men and women into war.
Trump specifically discussed former Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY).
“She’s a radical war hawk. Let’s put her with a rifle standing there with nine barrels shooting at her, OK? Let’s see how she feels about it. You know, when the guns are trained on her face. They’re all war hawks when they’re sitting in Washington in a nice building saying, ‘Oh, gee, well, let’s send 10,000 troops into the mouths of the enemies,’ but she’s a stupid person and I used to have meetings with a lot of people and she always wanted to go to war with people,” Trump said.
But the clip that was circulated among left-wing media outlets and social media accounts stripped the quote of its context, making it sound like Trump was calling for people to take aim at Cheney.
“I don’t blame [Dick Cheney] for sticking with his daughter, but his daughter is a very dumb individual. Very dumb, she’s a radical war hawk. Let’s put her with a rifle standing there with nine barrels shooting at her, OK? Let’s see how she feels about it. You know, when the guns are trained on her face,” Trump is heard saying in the clip that CNN and MSNBC rolled ad nauseam Friday morning.
CNN’s front-page headline was “Trump rages that ‘war hawk’ Liz Cheney should be fired upon.”
The Drudge Report claimed Trump called for Cheney’s execution.
“Four days out from Election Day and former President Trump is escalating his violent rhetoric, suggesting one of his most prominent critics, the former congresswoman Liz Cheney, should be fired upon,” CNN’s Kasie Hunt told viewers.
“Of course, violent language, it’s not new for Trump,” Hunt added. “This stark imagery represents an escalation at a tense moment when the country is on edge.”
Trump’s national press secretary set the record straight.
“President Trump is 100% correct that warmongers like Liz Cheney are very quick to start wars and send other Americans to fight them, rather than go into combat themselves. This is the continuation of the latest fake media outrage days before the election in a blatant attempt to interfere on behalf of Kamala Harris.”
Trump aide Stephen Miller posted on X, calling out CNN and Kasie Hunt.
“I’m astounded that you would broadcast this lie,” Miller said. “Trump said, clearly, unmistakably, unambiguously that warmongering neocons like Cheney are all too eager to make others’ children die in wars they never have to fight. Truly, shame on you and CNN. End the wars! Restore peace.”
