During a new Fox News interview, Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH), the Chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, discussed the recent lawsuit against him from the Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg in response to his inquiry into Bragg’s indictment of former President Donald Trump.
Jordan made his comments during an interview with Fox News’ Bret Baier on “Special Report.”
“As mentioned at the top of the show, Manhattan’s district attorney is suing House Judiciary Committee chairman Jim Jordan over an investigation into Alvin Bragg’s office. Chairman Jordan joins us now. Thanks for being here. I want to read this,” Baier said.
“‘Bragg v. Jordan’ in U.S. District Court, this lawsuit page 2. ‘Rather than allowing the criminal process to proceed in the ordinary course, Chairman Jordan and the committee are participating in a campaign of intimidation, retaliation, and obstruction. Chairman Jordan and the committee have, in essence, appointed Congress as a super grand jury that can flex its subpoena power to second-guess the judgment of New York citizens and interfere with the state criminal justice process,” Baier continued, quoting the Manhattan District Attorney.
“That is from Alvin Bragg. Your response, Mr. Chairman?” Baier asked.
“They’re obstructing our investigation, Bret,” Jordan responded. “We have a constitutional duty to get to the facts, particularly when you have a district attorney interfering with the most important election we have — the election of the commander-in-chief, the president of the United States.”
“And understand what happened here: Alvin Bragg used federal funds to indict a former president for no crime. And then when we asked questions about it, when we want to investigate, he takes us to court,” Jordan added.
