On Monday, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) lashed out at Elon Musk for saying that he liked chocolate milk, claiming that his support of the dairy industry was the same as driving a “gas-guzzler.”
“Chocolate milk is insanely good. Just had some,” Musk tweeted, provoking PETA’s aggression.

“Drinking cow’s milk is like driving a gas guzzler. The dairy industry is one of the worst contributors to the climate catastrophe. What happened to caring about the environment? Now chocolate oat milk we can get behind,” the official PETA Twitter account responded.

PETA has also recently made headlines for one of its characteristic questionably effective protests when Oscar nominee James Cromwell superglued himself to a New York City Starbucks counter to protest the company charging extra for plant-based milk in drinks due to the plant-based products used in those drinks being more expensive.
In a protest that was live-streamed to Facebook by PETA activists, the actor superglued himself to the counter and then gave a statement about Starbucks’ surcharge for vegan milk options, saying it negatively affects the environment and minority communities.
PETA is also known for launching a campaign against the Pokemon children’s games, saying that they encourage animal cruelty because the fictional creatures in the games are not treated well enough. In response to the games, PETA released a satirical video game called “Pokemon Black & Blue: Gotta Free ‘Em All,” which featured bloodied Pokemon directly fighting their owners.
