During a Fox News interview on Monday, Republican Florida Governor Ron DeSantis told voters in Democrat-controlled states to vote for Republicans if they “value freedom” because Democrats will continue to push COVID-19 restrictions.
“Well, what are we on, like day, 700 of the 15 days to slow the spread?” DeSantis said. “The fact of the matter is, I think we’ve learned, you give these people an inch, they will never let go, they are going to take a mile, they are going to restrict, they’re going to mandate, they’re going to lock you down. And we cannot accept that. Obviously, in Florida, we do not accept it. So there’s no reason to be restricting or mandating anybody throughout our country.”
“And the fact that this is still going on in these blue states, and may even intensify over the coming weeks and months, it just shows you if you value your freedom in 2022, if you’re in those states, you need to make your voice heard and you got to do a change of direction because I fear that they’re going to continue to do this until they suffer at the ballot box,” DeSantis added.

DeSantis’ comments come shortly after the Democrat-ran states of New York and California announced they would be reimplementing mask mandates.
“I share New Yorkers’ frustration that we are not past this pandemic, but the winter surge is here & we must take action,” New York Governor Kathy Hochul wrote in a tweet. “Starting Monday through January 15, businesses will have the option to implement either a vaccine or mask requirement.”

Democrat California Governor Gavin Newsom’s administration announced the mask mandate on Monday.
“This is a critical time,” Health and Human Services Secretary Dr. Mark Ghaly said. “We have a tool we know has worked and can work. We are proactively putting this tool of universal indoor masking in place to ensure we get through a time of joy and hope without a darker cloud of despair. Californians have done this before, and we believe we can do it again.”
