Biden Administration Begins Using ‘Irregular Migration’ Over ‘Illegal’

Joe Biden

As President Biden’s inactivity in strengthening border security during record level illegal immigration has forced border states to take charge of protecting national sovereignty, the Biden administration has devoted more time in adopting terminology minimizing the border crisis, using the term “irregular migration” instead of “illegal immigration.”

The term was used by State Department Principal Deputy Spokesperson Jalina Porter during a Tuesday press conference announcing the expansion of the Central American Minors program (CAM), which will “allow tens of thousands of children to board flights to America as numbers crossing southern border illegally remain high.”

Porter stated, “As we continue to develop and expand initiatives that provide a safe, legal, and orderly alternative to dangerous irregular migration, we are announcing today the second phase of the CAM reopening that will expand the ability of tens of thousands of U.S.-based individuals to petition for children to access the U.S. Refugee Admissions Program through CAM.”

As illegal immigration has hit 20-year highs for three consecutive months, the “irregular migration” has become regular in both its normality and predictability. Beginning with “illegal immigration” to “undocumented immigration” or “unauthorized migrant,” and now “irregular migration,” the adoption of the term is just another step in the constant sprint away from reality by a recurrent replacement of terms that are just too precise in describing the act of illegally crossing the border of the United States.

The obfuscation of reality was also seen in the Biden administration’s refusal to use the word “crisis” to describe the illegal immigration levels that were over six times the Obama administration’s definition of a “crisis.”

According to White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki, “To us it’s like ‘That wasn’t really a crisis; it was a huge challenge.’” Psaki explained that “The president does not feel that children coming to our border seeking refuge from violence, economic hardships, and other dire circumstances is a crisis.”

To summarize, President Biden does not feel that a situation resulting in children being kept in facilities described by the New York Times as “akin to jails” for “an average of 120 hours,” nearly double the legal limit, is a crisis, but is instead a “huge challenge.”
