Trump To Visit Border As VP Harris Refuses, Biden’s Border Crisis Worsens

Trump Thumbs Up

As Vice President Kamala Harris has notoriously avoided visiting the border to help alleviate President Biden’s worsening border crisis which Harris was placed in charge of in March, former President Trump has announced Tuesday he will be visiting the southern border with Texas Governor Greg Abbott.

“I have accepted the invitation of Texas Governor Greg Abbott to join him on an official visit to our Nation’s decimated Southern Border on Wednesday, June 30, 2021,” Trump said in a statement. “The Biden Administration inherited from me the strongest, safest, and most secure border in U.S. history and in mere weeks they turned it into the single worst border crisis in U.S. history. It’s an unmitigated disaster zone.”

“If this weren’t bad enough, Biden and Harris won’t even tour the scenes of the wreckage they created, or come down and visit with the Border Patrol and ICE heroes risking their lives to defend our Nation at a time when the White House is doing everything it can to make their job totally impossible,” Trump added. “What Biden and Harris have done, and are continuing to do on our border, is a grave and willful dereliction of duty. My visit will hopefully shine a spotlight on these crimes against our Nation—and show the incredible people of ICE and Border Patrol that they have our unshakeable support.”

The announcement comes days after US Customs and Border Protection released data showing over 180,000 illegal immigrants were stopped at the border in May, continuing a trend of increasing illegal immigration and setting a 20 year high for three consecutive months. The numbers are nearly 2.5 times the number of illegal immigrants stopped during former President Trump’s last month in office.

As Vice President Harris continues her determined avoidance of the southern border, President Biden has similarly attempted to handle the record-setting border crisis through avoidance behavior. For example, the Biden administration has avoided using the word “crisis” to describe the situation at the border, in which illegal immigration levels have reached six times the Obama administration’s definition of “crisis levels,” and the Biden administration has implemented rules that force ICE officers to avoid deportations.

“Under new Biden administration rules curtailing immigration enforcement, ICE carried out fewer than 3,000 deportations last month, the lowest level on record,” The Washington Post reported. “The agency’s 6,000 officers currently average one arrest every two months. ICE under President Biden is an agency on probation. The new administration has rejected calls from some Democrats to eliminate the agency entirely, but Biden has placed ICE deportation officers on a leash so tight that some say their work is being functionally abolished.”
