Whatever Happened To CNN?

The transformation of CNN in the last few Trump years is nothing short of astonishing.

From a “just the facts” network seasoned with opinion shows, the network is now all opinion, all of the time. Nothing wrong with that. But in the current virus environment, the headlines about CNN are increasingly spotlighting a network that is bordering on a wild, frantic hysteria.

Then there are chyrons like this one at the bottom of the CNN screen:

This last one is a bold-faced lie. NewsBusters’ Nicholas Fondacaro quickly did the homework and headlined the truth:

19 Times Donald Trump Has Denounced White Supremacy

All of this craziness doesn’t even touch the mask hypocrisy. Their White House correspondents Jim Acosta and Kaitlan Collins go after the President or White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany for not wearing masks – while not wearing masks themselves. Nor, for that matter, are their anchors doing their shows wearing masks. Which is to say the network is brazenly proclaiming the elitist mindset of “rules for thee but not for me.”

What in the world is going on here? This isn’t opinion journalism, much less just plain “just-the-facts” journalism. This is fever swamp stuff. Out and out hysteria.

But, sadly, this is CNN.
