On Friday, Ukraine announced that Russia has suffered nearly 3,000 servicemen casualties and lost over 500 kinds of military vehicles.
“Russian forces have lost about 2,800 servicemen and 80 tanks during their assault on Ukraine, Deputy Defence Minister Hanna Malyar said on Friday,” Reuters reported.
“She added on her Facebook page that the Russian troops also lost about 516 armoured combat vehicles, 10 aircraft and seven helicopters,” the outlet added.
The news appear to confirm comments made by U.S. Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL), vice chair of the U.S. Senate Select Intelligence Committee, on Thursday. Rubio announced on Twitter that it was taking Russia longer than Russian President Vladimir Putin had expected to overtake the country and it has also been costlier.
“Russia’s invasion has already taken longer & been costlier than Putin expected. Almost certain his military & intel leaders knew this ahead of time but no one dared tell him his expectations were unrealistic,” Rubio tweeted.
“Russia has launched several attacks on Ivano-Frankivsk, Vinnytsia & Lutsk, cities very close to Ukraine’s borders with NATO countries Romania, Poland & Slovakia. Just one mistake, miscalculation or misunderstanding could set off a broader & catastrophic conflict,” he added.
