Trump made his comments during a Fox News town hall with female voters that was hosted by Harris Faulkner.

When asked if biological males competing in women’s sports was a serious concern, nearly every woman in the audience raised their hand.

Audience member Linda from Georgia then asked Trump, “How do you plan on addressing the transgender issue in women’s sports?”

“I have nine grandchildren, six of them female, all playing sports, and we are very concerned for their safety, not just on the field and the courts, but in their locker rooms as well,” she said.

Trump responded, “It’s such an easy question, and everybody in the room, and you know that answer, we’re not going to let it happen.”

The former president then highlighted examples of men dominating women in sports ranging from volleyball to swimming where women are being injured and the men are shattering long time records. Notably, during the summer Olympics two biological males – Imane Khelif of Algeria and Lin Yu‑ting of Taiwan  – competed in women’s boxing and won gold medals in their respective weight classes . Khelif won the fight after defeating Angela Carini of Italy who quit just 46 seconds into the match. She stopped the fight after only a few punches were exchanged, then avoided shaking Khelif’s hand and fell to the floor in tears.

“You can’t have it,” Trump said of biological males competing in women’s sports.

When asked how to stop it, Trump responded, “You just ban it. The president bans it. You just don’t let it happen. Not a big deal.”
