‘They Know I’m Not Playing Games’: President Trump’s Pledge to Disarm Hamas

President Donald Trump said Tuesday that Hamas terrorists would lay down their weapons, or the United States would “disarm them.”

Speaking to reporters during a roundtable with Argentinian President Javier Milei at the White House, Trump said Hamas had already agreed to disarm — a central demand in his 20-point peace plan.

“They’re going to disarm because they said they were going to disarm,” Trump said. “And if they don’t disarm, we will disarm them.”

“How will you do that?” a reporter asked.

“I don’t have to explain that to you, but if they don’t disarm, we will disarm them,” Trump replied. “They know I’m not playing games.”

Trump successfully pressured Hamas to accept a ceasefire and hostage deal with Israel — the first phase of his broader plan for peace in the region. While the initial stage did not require Hamas to surrender its weapons, the president expressed confidence that it will follow.

His 20-point plan also calls for Hamas to give up control of Gaza to a coalition of Palestinian and international technocrats led by former British Prime Minister Tony Blair. Under the proposal, Hamas would be barred from the new administration — a condition the group has yet to accept.

It was classic Trump: firm, unflinching, and unmistakably American — peace through strength, and strength without apology.
