During this week on The Word of the Lord, Jeffrey Lord dissects Kamala Harris’ admission that she passed over Pete Buttigieg as her VP running mate because he is gay.
Harris made the controversial admission while speaking to MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow.
Maddow: To say that he couldn’t be on the ticket effectively because he was gay, it’s hard to hear.
Harris: No, no, no, that’s not what I said… with the stakes being so high, it made me very sad, but I also realized it would be a real risk.

But Lord says Buttigieg wouldn’t have been the first gay American to hold one of the highest offices in the land. That distinction goes to the fifteenth President of the United States, James Buchanan, according to some historians.
“Buchanan was the only president in American history who remained a bachelor throughout his life, living much of it in Lancaster, PA,” Lord said, going on to cite multiple studies and sources that discuss Buchanan’s sexuality.
So what’s the real story?
