According to a recently released CBS News/YouGov Survey, the majority of Americans support Donald Trump’s plan to remove migrants who are in the U.S. illegally.
45 percent of respondents said that Trump’s effort to “deport immigrants who are in the U.S. illegally” should be “high priority.” Another 28 percent said that it should be “medium priority,” while just 27 percent said it should not be a priority.
57 percent of respondents said they would support “starting a national program to find and deport all immigrants who are in the U.S. illegally.”
From The Daily Wire:
Trump made mass deportations one of his key campaign promises, pledging to “launch the largest deportation program in American history.” Trump has since announced that former Acting Director of Immigration and Customs Enforcement Tom Homan will serve as his border czar and be in charge of the deportation agenda.
A full 74 percent of white respondents said that deportations should be a high or medium priority of the Trump administration, while 70 percent of black respondents and 69 percent of Hispanic respondents agreed, displaying broad support for the initiative.
The results mimic the findings of an earlier post-election poll from Rasmussen, which found 64 percent of American voters approve of the president-elect’s plan to “launch the largest deportation program in American history.”
Democrat mayors and governors are threatening to impede ICE efforts to remove illegal migrants from communities all across the country. Incoming border czar Tom Homan says his team will get the job done.
“We are going to go do the job. President Trump has a mandate for the American people. We’ve got to secure this country, and we have to save American lives,” he told Fox News’ Sean Hannity.
“President Trump has been clear: We want to concentrate on public safety threats and national security threats,” Homan continued. “And I find it shocking that any mayor of the city would say they don’t want public safety threats removed from their neighborhoods.”
Incoming press secretary Karoline Leavitt has also said the president-elect “will marshal every federal and state power necessary to institute the largest deportation operation of illegal criminals, drug dealers, and human traffickers in American history while simultaneously lowering costs for families.”
