On Tuesday, Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) responded to reports about a potential indictment of former President Trump.
Graham made the comments during an appearance on “FOX & Friends,” saying that the indictment would “blow up” the United States.
“It is going to blow up our country and this is a bunch of BS,” Graham said. “You’ve had the prosecutor before [Mahattan District Attorney Alivn] Bragg, Mr. Vance looked at the case and passed on it. You had the U.S. Attorney in New York said he would do not do federally. There was an intervening cause other than Trump running. One guy of the guys in the DA’s office wrote a book very critical of Vance, saying he should have prosecuted Trump and he let him off, and Alvin Bragg feels that pressure. He is a George Soros-backed prosecutor, he can’t take the heat so the guy is yielding to political pressure by the former prosecutor.”
“And this is a case without merit, in my view. Donald Trump will be the only person in the history of New York prosecuted under this theory,” he added.
Fox News’ Peter Doocy asked, “What is your theory about now that Donald Trump has been attacking ‘Ron DeSanctimonius,’ for a while, well, DeSanctimonious returned a little fire yesterday.”
“If you start this thing, you better be willing to take it,” Graham asked. “I don’t like it. Trump is not into ‘Thou shalt not,’ that is not his thing, the 11th commandment. Here is what I would say. Yeah, good, it was meant to be an early joke. The bottom line is, I think if I were Trump, which I am not, I would be running on four years of a pretty effective presidency, saying the best is yet to come. I would say DeSantis, I picked him out of the crowd, I knew he was talented early on, I saw the talent. He’s been a great governor but I’m better able to be president for the next four years, but that isn’t going to happen.”
