Nebraska Governor Declares July ‘Victims of Communism Remembrance Month’

Republican Nebraska Governor Pete Ricketts has declared the month of July as “Victims of Communism Remembrance Month.” Ricketts hosted a proclamation ceremony “to honor and remember the millions of victims of communism” according to a press release. Governor Ricketts was joined at the ceremony by Nebraskans who have been victims of communist oppression, including former State Senator Lydia Brasch whose family fled Ukraine to escape Soviet communist tyranny. “An estimated 100 million people died from political purges, religious persecutions, mass starvations, and other crimes against humanity carried out by communist regimes such as the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR)
