On Tuesday, Gen. McKenzie and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Gen. Mark Milley, confirmed that President Biden had ignored their advice on maintaining a peacekeeping force of 2,500 troops in Afghanistan to prevent the Taliban from overrunning the country. “I won’t share my personal recommendation to the president, but I will give you my honest opinion,” McKenzie said to Sen. James Inhofe (R-OK), the ranking member on the Senate Armed Services Committee. “And my honest opinion and view shaped my recommendation. News

During an interview with CNN’s Jake Tapper over the weekend, Sen. Pat Toomey (R-PA) said that no Republicans would be voting to raise the debt ceiling to pass the Democrats’ $3.5 trillion social-spending bill and that Democrats have enough votes to do so themselves if they want to continue their “very damaging spending spree.” “I will certainly be voting no if the Democrats insist on combining the debt ceiling increase or suspension with the continuing operations of the government,” Toomey said. “And there is no calamity that’s going to happen, Jake. If that were even a serious risk, don’t you
