During a hearing with the Senate Armed Services Committee on Tuesday, the Pentagon admitted that there were still nearly 450 Americans stranded in Taliban-controlled Afghanistan. “Following the US’ frenzied withdrawal from Kabul, the State Department said in late September that there were less than 100 Americans still in Afghanistan who were looking to flee,” the Daily Mail reported. “But last week the State Department said it was in contact with 363 Americans in Afghanistan, and has already withdrawn 234 since the US military’s exit.” During the hearing, Colin H. Kahl, the Under Secretary of Defense for Policy, added to that number, saying that

Chinese propagandist Hu Xijin, editor of China’s state-run Global Times, claimed that China would take military action if the United States allowed Taiwan to change the name of its representative office in the U.S. from “Taipei Economic and Cultural Representative Office” to “Taiwan Representative Office.” “Media widely reporting that the U.S. is evaluating whether it should respond to Taiwan’s request and change the name of its representative office in the U.S. from ‘Taipei Economic and Cultural Representative Office’ to ‘Taiwan Representative Office,’” Hu began. “This is obviously to test the attitude of the Chinese mainland. I think this test is unnecessary,” Hu

You acknowledged that you issued the unusual directive soon after reading about the thinly sourced letter sent by the National School Boards Association (NSBA) to President Biden and not because of any specific request from state or local law enforcement,” the

On Monday, Larry Summers, a former economic adviser to President Barack Obama, responded to comments from Biden’s Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen in which she dismissed Summers’ concerns about the inflation crisis. CNN’s Jake Tapper asked Yellen about Summers saying “We’re in more danger than we have been during my career of losing control of inflation in the U.S.” Yellen responded, “I think he’s wrong, I don’t think we’re about to lose control of inflation.” “I agree, of course, we are going through a period of inflation that’s higher than Americans have seen in a long time,” she added. “And it’s
