Real Wages Of Americans Have Declined Almost 4% Since Last Year

Due to the worsening inflation crisis, the real wages of American workers continued to fall during the month of May, according to a new report from the Bureau of Labor Statistics. During May 2022, inflation hit the highest level since December 1981 as prices rose 1% from the previous month and 8.6% from the year before, according to a separate report from the Bureau of Labor Statistics. The 8.6% increase in prices over the last year resulted in a dramatic decrease in the real wages of Americans. Despite the U.S. GDP shrinking by 1.4% in the first quarter of 2022, Biden administration Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen says that there is “nothing to suggest” that the United States will enter a recession. “There’s nothing to suggest that there’s a recession in the works,” she said during an interview at The New York Times’ economic forum. “Is there a recession risk? Early Wednesday morning, police arrested a California man carrying a gun and a knife outside of Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh’s home in Maryland. “Authorities identified the man as Nicholas John Roske, 26, of Simi Valley, Calif., charging him with the attempted murder of a federal judge.
