White House deputy chief of staff for policy Stephen Miller lit into demonstrators outside Union Station on Wednesday, dismissing them as “stupid white hippies” and “crazy communists” for protesting President Donald Trump’s crime crackdown in the capital.

Miller, who toured the site with Vice President J.D. Vance and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth to review the federal takeover of Washington, cast the protesters as outsiders with no stake in the city.

“The voices you hear out there, those crazy communists, they have no roots here,” he said. “No families to raise, no children in the schools, no jobs in this city. They’re not part of this community at all. But they’re the ones standing up for the criminals, the killers, the drug dealers.”

Miller said their presence only stiffened the administration’s resolve. “Me, Pete, and the vice president are leaving here today inspired to add thousands more resources to this city to drive the gang members out,” he vowed. “We’re going to prove a city can serve the law-abiding citizens who live there. We will not let the communists destroy America’s capital.”

He saved his sharpest barbs for the protesters themselves. “These elderly white hippies aren’t part of this city and never have been,” Miller said. “We’re going to ignore them—because they all need to go home and take a nap—and get back to protecting the American people.”
