The Senate Finance Committee voted to advance Robert F. Kennedy’s HHS nomination Tuesday morning along party lines. Kennedy, one of President Trump’s more controversial Cabinet picks, will now head to the Senate floor for a full-chamber vote.

Before the vote, Trump shared a message on TRUTH Social; “20 years ago, Autism in children was 1 in 10,000. NOW IT’S 1 in 34. WOW! Something’s really wrong. We need BOBBY!!! Thank You! DJT” Trump posted.

From Politico:

Kennedy, whom President Donald Trump named to lead HHS after Kennedy dropped his own presidential bid and endorsed Trump, overcame opposition from both Democrats and Republicans concerned, variously, about his views on vaccines, abortion, environmental regulation, food production and drug legalization, as well as his personal behavior.

Sen. Bill Cassidy (R-La.) was the key vote after Cassidy last week questioned Kennedy sharply at a hearing of the Senate’s health panel about Kennedy’s assertions that widely accepted vaccines are unsafe.

Cassidy said on X that he had decided to vote “yes” after receiving “serious commitments” from Vice President JD Vance and because of the opportunity presented “to make progress on the issues we agree on like healthy foods and a pro-American agenda.”
