Team Trump is tweaking a controversial Biden-era app.
On Monday, the Trump Administration announced that the CBP One App — a smartphone app that allowed a million illegal immigrants into the country under Joe Biden — would be updated to the ‘CBP Home App’ to facilitate self-deportations.
Fox News border correspondent Bill Melugin shared details Monday morning.
“The app is now called CBP Home. It allows illegal aliens in the U.S. to register to self-deport,” Melugin said on Fox News Monday morning. “They fill out biographical information, including their countries of citizenship, which country they plan to return to, their alien registration number, their contact information, and it allows them to upload photos of themselves to confirm their identity.”
“Now you may be asking yourself, ‘Why would illegal immigrant want to self-deport?’ DHS says that if they leave now, they will have the opportunity to return to the U.S. legally in the future and chase the American Dream. But if they don’t leave, they will be found, arrested, detained, and deported with a permanent ban on re-entry,” Melugin said.
DHS Secretary Kristi Noem shared the news on X.
“The Biden Administration exploited the CBP One App to allow more than 1 million aliens to illegally enter the United States. With the launching of the CBP Home App, we are restoring integrity to our immigration system,” Noem said on X.
“The CBP Home app gives aliens the option to leave now and self deport, so they may still have the opportunity to return legally in the future and live the American dream. If they don’t, we will find them, we will deport them, and they will never return.”
