Rep. Jasmine Crockett, (D-TX) directed an expletive-laden remark toward the U.S. Supreme Court following its move to temporarily allow Texas to use its newly redrawn congressional districts — a set of maps favored by Republicans, according to Fox News. In a video uploaded to her YouTube channel on Sunday, Crockett accused President Donald Trump and GOP leaders of manipulating redistricting efforts to, as she put it, “rig the system” ahead of the crucial 2026 midterm elections.
“Obviously, Trump is still doing his bidding with these state Houses and state Senates and governor’s mansions to try to rig the system,” Crockett said. “Kudos to Indiana for saying f— you. Kudos to California for saying we’re going to fight back.”
Crockett went on to add, “Definitely kudos to the Trump justice who wrote the 160-page opinion denouncing what took place in Texas and f— you to the Supreme Court for what they did as well as, you know, we’ll see what happens in some other places.”
The Supreme Court’s December order kept Governor Greg Abbott’s redistricting plan in place for the November elections — a map analysts say could deliver up to five additional Republican seats in the U.S. House.
The new boundaries also removed Crockett from her current congressional district, a change that may have influenced her swift decision to announce a run for the U.S. Senate shortly after the ruling. Meanwhile, California Governor Gavin Newsom responded to the Texas developments by advancing a ballot measure in November that sought to create five more districts favoring Democrats, according to Fox News. In contrast, Indiana’s GOP-controlled state Senate last month blocked a proposed redistricting plan that would have granted Republicans two extra congressional seats.
Crockett also renewed her call for Supreme Court reform during the video, referencing her time on the Court Reform Now Task Force in 2024, which advocated for measures like term limits and expanding the court.
“I just feel like there are certain spots on the Supreme Court that were illegitimately gotten for sure,” Crockett reportedly said. “So, I think if we’re going to shore up our democracy, we have to first start by shoring up the checks and balances. And so, that starts with the Supreme Court.”
